And this environmental certificate proves in black and white that 33 kilograms, or around 2,000 PET bottles, have been recycled at its site in Birspark 1. In addition to the production of valuable raw material, around 99 kilograms of greenhouse gases were prevented and around 31 liters of crude oil were saved.
Bottle-to-bottle
One can only speak of recycling when the reprocessed material is returned to the cycle. This is why EGK collects empty PET beverage bottles at its sites throughout Switzerland. These are then sorted and reprocessed in a multi-stage process to produce a pure, high-quality raw material suitable for foodstuffs (R-PET). New Swiss PET beverage bottles are produced from this valuable raw material. In this way, the material cycle (bottle-to-bottle) can be closed and thus truly speak of recycling (back into the cycle).
