Travel insurance for you and your visitors from abroad

It’s worthwhile taking out annual insurance, as the premium for individual travel insurance is proportionally higher than that of annual travel insurance. Plus, all weekend trips and holidays are insured for a whole year.

Basic insurance in Switzerland covers the costs of emergencies abroad depending on where you are staying. However, repatriation is not covered:

Treatment in the EU/EFTA/UK
Medically necessary treatment in an EU/EFTA country or in the UK is covered upon presentation of the European Health Insurance Card (see back of insurance card). The conditions of the visited country apply.

Treatment outside the EU/EFTA/UKBasic insurance covers a maximum of double the amount of the costs reimbursed in Switzerland. However, for inpatient treatment, it covers at most 90 per cent of the costs in Switzerland.

Higher costs are to be expected in countries such as Africa, Latin America or India, as tourists are treated in private hospitals in these countries.

Countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America, Japan, etc. have high medical costs.

In addition, repatriation to Switzerland is not covered by basic insurance. You can also insure search and rescue costs and cancellation costs with travel insurance.

• Emergency transport: CHF 100,000 per calendar year
• Emergency treatment: treatment costs in addition to basic insurance for 12 months from the date of departure
