The Sihlwald is an original beech forest covering an area of around 1100 hectares. Completely left to its own devices, it has been running wild for more than 20 years at the gates of the Zurich conurbation. In a 2017 inventory, those responsible measured 49 m3 of deadwood per hectare. This is an important indicator of the biodiversity of a forest. This creates new habitats for plants, fungi and animals. Interested visitors also have a lot on offer in the nature park: More than 72 km of hiking trails and 56 km of cycle paths invite you to immerse yourself in a pristine world. There is the Sihlwald Visitor Centre, a nature museum with interactive exhibitions, a wilderness playground and a restaurant on the Sihl terrace. And of course - pure nature. The prepared annual programme is also something to be proud of: In addition to wilderness days and adventure Saturdays for the whole family, there are excursions, courses and guided tours.
