The focus of the 13th SNE Symposium, which took place in Solothurn on September 30/October 1, was on how we can draw strength even from ominous times. In particular, the German Zeitgeist researcher Kirstine Fratz was able to show plausibly that in a felt cultural unease usually lies the seed for a new, better reality. She advised the audience of about 300 to judge cultural developments less and to be more amazed, even if they cause consternation at the moment. Her recipe: to deal generously with cultural developments and to take them as an offer to shape one's own future.
Health - a process
In general, self-empowerment was the central theme of the symposium. For systems biologist Peter Spork also emphasized in his remarks that health is a lifelong project and advised the audience not to give up power and responsibility for it. Hartmut Schröder, for his part, called it "Valebo" (as opposed to placebo and nocebo) and even spoke of being an "expert in one's own cause". So that everything did not remain just theory, this year's SNE sponsorship award winner Roseline Bestler illustrated in her short lecture how especially in "Therapeutic Climbing" on the climbing wall self-empowerment can be experienced actively and in a health-promoting way.
